Separate one-time and recurring costs
Development samples, tooling and testing may be priced separately from the unit cost. Request a breakdown of what is included and the conditions under which any charge changes. Confirm tooling ownership and whether future revisions require additional work.
Understand the product assumptions
Materials, component construction, number of operations and finishing affect the cost discussion. Two quotes may use different materials or construction even when the reference image is the same. Record these assumptions before comparing prices.
Compare the order mix
Ask how quantity, colours, sizes and packaging affect the quotation. A large total split into many small variants can have different purchasing and preparation requirements from a simpler assortment.
Check the commercial boundary
Confirm currency, delivery terms, packing, testing and inspection costs. Distinguish the factory price from freight, duties and destination charges. Ask for the quotation validity and how material or specification changes will be handled.
